Why do you need a Tenant and Belongings cover?

A problem in your home always occurs at the wrong time: lost keys, the heating breaks down at -5°, a wasp's nest on your terrace, etc. Our Tenant assistance service is there to help you. When things start to get serious, you are always presumed responsible for damage to your rental property unless you can prove otherwise. In the event of a claim, your own property may also be damaged, and repair or replacement costs can quickly add up. The Tenant and Belongings cover protects you against such costs.

When do you need a Tenant and Belongings cover?

In Wallonia and Flanders, you must take out Tenant cover the moment you sign your lease. In Brussels, it's often an obligation specified in your lease contract. And even if your landlord has included a no-recourse clause in your contract, we strongly recommend that you get a Tenant cover: the landlord's property is protected in the event of a claim, but not your property or damage to third parties!

What is covered and what isn't?

In the belief that real-life examples speak louder than definitions, here are some of the most common uses of the cover:

The main things that are covered

Fire: your raclette machine catches fire, damaging the walls or furniture in your rental property? Covered.
Water damage: has your aquarium cracked and water damaged your floor? Has your washing machine gone crazy and downgraded your floor? Your tap leaked while you were on vacation and the neighbor's apartment was affected? Covered.
At home: you've lost your keys and can't get home? Your heating breaks down in the middle of the night at -5°C? We'll arrange the necessary assistance.
Power surge: a power surge fries your new TV and your state-of-the-art laptop? Covered up to 4.000 EUR/item.

Some things that aren't covered

Deductible: the first 309,32 EUR will remain to be paid by you in the event of a material damage (amount indexed in January).
Theft: someone breaks into your home and helps themselves to your latest equipment? Sorry, not covered.
Water loss due to damage: Your faucet leaks and floods the bathroom? We cover the damage, but not the cost of the water that comes out of the faucet.
Wear and tear: Did your floor wear out during your rental and need to be repaired? Sorry, not covered.
