There is no single price for tenant insurance in Belgium.
The premium depends on the insurance product, the cover selected, the insured amounts, the characteristics of the risk and the insurer's pricing method.
To compare two policies properly, you should therefore look beyond the premium and also compare:
Two products both described as “tenant insurance” may provide very different levels of protection.
One policy may mainly cover tenant liability.
Another may include:
A lower monthly price therefore does not necessarily mean that two policies offer comparable protection.
Which events and liabilities are actually insured?
What is the maximum amount the insurer may pay?
How much remains payable by you when a claim occurs?
In which situations will the policy not respond?
Are your personal belongings covered and up to what amount?
Do important risks require additional paid options?
As of 21 September 2026, SWINZ displays the following monthly prices for its main package:
SWINZ states that taxes and fees are included in these amounts.
These are the prices displayed at the time this guide was last reviewed. Prices and conditions may change. The price and contractual information available when you take out the insurance remain the applicable reference.
The SWINZ package currently includes:
Optional cover may be added separately.
This means that the price of the SWINZ package should not be compared only with the price of a policy that provides tenant liability alone.
You need to compare similar levels of cover.
Not necessarily.
Consider two fictional policies:
Policy A: €15 per month
Tenant liability only.
Policy B: €29 per month
Tenant liability, contents and several additional forms of cover.
It is mathematically correct to say that Policy A costs less.
But this does not tell you which policy provides the most suitable protection.
To make a meaningful comparison, you need to examine:
Before choosing a policy, ask:
This gives you a much better picture of the overall cost of your insurance protection.
Suppose one tenant insurance policy costs €18 per month and another costs €29.
The first covers tenant liability.
The second covers tenant liability, contents, private liability and several other risks.
The difference is not simply €11 per month.
The real comparison is between:
the total premium + the scope of cover + the financial risks that remain uninsured.
Price matters.
But the more useful question is:
“For this price, which risks am I actually insured against?”
